The Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, through the NSUK Alumni Association, has donated the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) to final year needy students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, to assist them with their final year project.
Presenting the cash donation to the benefiting students at the Assembly Hall of the University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, noted with satisfaction the donation as a timely way of alleviating the hardship most students encounter during the preparation of their final year projects.
Professor Mohammed used the occasion to applaud the leadership of the NSUK Alumni Association under the leadership of Comrade Isa Mustapha for facilitating such a gesture to touch the lives of the students who he said personally will soon join the Alumni Association upon graduation. He also charged the benefitting students to channel the funds for the purpose they are meant for.
In his remarks, the NSUK Alumni National President, Comrade Isa Mustapha, said the Association had been inundated with requests from indigent students seeking various forms of assistance, which informed their decision to reach out to the DG of NYSC, who is an illustrious son of Nasarawa State for intervention.
Comrade Isa further revealed that the NYSC DG also promised to increase the donation and make it an annual event.
Present at the occasion were the Dean Students Affairs Dr. Abdullahi Modibbo, Chairman, NSUK Alumni Indigent Students Committee, Dr. Tafida Abubakar, and the representative of the DG NYSC Mallam Aliyu Hassan who monitored the disbursement exercise on behalf of the DG NYSC.
