The newly inaugurated officials of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASUU Nasarawa State University, Keffi Chapter, have been charged to carry members along in their decision-making process to give everyone a sense of belonging.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, made the call when the new ASUU executives paid him a courtesy call in his office on Monday.
Professor Mohammed congratulated the Associate Professor Sam Alu-led Exco on their victory, saying their success after rounds of runoff shows their popularity.
He advised the Chairman and his Exco to focus on uniting members to ensure harmony and unity of purpose.
In his response Associate Professor, Alu said they were in the Vice-Chancellor's office to familiarise themselves with management and appreciate him for his leadership.
He thanked the Vice-Chancellor for applying due process and transparency in the handling of the affairs of the University, which he promised to communicate to the National body of the Union for proper recognition.
Associate Professor Alu, also applauded the consistency of management in meeting up with staff welfare. While commending the Vice-Chancellor, he said the tradition should be maintained.
He also used the opportunity to formally invite the Vice-Chancellor to be the guest speaker at the first ASUU public lecture series, coming up very soon. He said the choice of Professor Mohammed was apt due to his vast experience in unionism, and members are hungry to tap from his wealth of experience.
